Based on data from the International Trade Statistics, in 2022 imports of Chinese fishery products reached US $ 23.5 billion or 12% of the total world imports and placed this bamboo curtain country as a country importing country for the 2nd global fishery product after the United States.

“The market opportunity has been utilized by several global fisheries producing countries, including Indonesia,” he said.

The China’s main import commodity was shrimp of US $ 6.29 billion with a percentage of 26.8%, followed by fish meal of US $ 2.99 billion, lobster of US $ 1.64 billion, crab of US $ 1.56 billion, salmon-trout US $ 1.43 billion, and squid-octopus US $ 1.04 billion. Similarly, Director General of Strengthening of Maritime and Fisheries Product Competitiveness, Budi Sulistiyo explained during the January-September period 2023, the export value of Indonesian fisheries products to China reached US $ 790 million or equivalent to IDR 12 trillion (exchange rate of IDR 15,627).
