The Coordinating Minister for Maritime and Investment in Indonesia (Menko Marves) Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan inaugurated the Joint Indonesia-China Laboratory in the New Energy and Metallurgical Engineering at the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) Jatinangor. This lab processed it in total within 10 months.
“Today I was present at the inauguration of the Joint Research Laboratory between Indonesia and China in terms of new energy and metallurgical engineering at the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB). What is interesting is, the establishment of this laboratory is very timely. The laboratory began on April 13, 2024, and the inauguration was held on August 28, 2024, “Luhut wrote in his Instagram account @luhut.pandjaitan, Wednesday
This laboratory, Luhut wrote, is a form of increasing the cooperation of the industrial talent resulting from work visits to China some time ago. From the results of discussions and dialogues with China, Luhut arrived at one conclusion that the downstream program could not be achieved without the quality of superior human resources and innovative research.
“Specifically, I put great hopes on the shoulders of the ITB retainer. This campus should not only be an educational institution but must also be brave to transform themselves to become a leading research center that is beneficial for the development of the nation and state,” explained Luhut.
The inauguration of this laboratory was also attended by Prof. Xu Kaihaua, a leading researcher and professor in China as well as Chairman of the Green-Eco Manufacture (GEM).
“In front of the academic community and related stakeholders, I say that the presence of this Joint-Research Lab is very important for research programs that realize efficiency, innovation, quality, and sustainability of the downstream of the homeland mineral industry. Kaihua, the Chinese government, and ITB for its great commitment to investment for Indonesian talents, “added Luhut.
“With the establishment of this joint research laboratory, I hope that soon there will be the Indonesian version of the next Xu. Which not only put hearts on research and innovations, but also successful in doing business and beneficial for many people, especially in terms of providing employment to improve The welfare of the Indonesian people, “he hoped.
Reporting from the ITB website, Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and Tripartite between ITB-Gem and Central South University (CSU) China conducted at the ITB Rectorate Building on November 6, 2023, then between ITB Rector, Prof. Reini Puniradikusumah, PhD and CEO of Gem Co. , LTD, Prof. Xu Kaihaua, who is also a guest professor in the Metallurgical Engineering Study Program, FTTM ITB. Cooperation to be carried out includes: 1. Development of Joint Research Lab for Research and Education in the Field of New Energy Materials and Metallurgical Engineering; 2. Granting scholarships for Bachelor and Postgraduate ITB students; 3. Double Degree Program at the master’s level between ITB-CSU.
China-Indonesia Joint Research Laboratory development process for new energy materials and metallurgical engineering at ITB Jatinangor Campus began in early April 2024 and is targeted to be completed in mid-July 2024. Joint Research Lab consists of 2 (two) floors with a total area of around 1,800 M2.
Joint Research Laboratory consists of 16 rooms that will be used for the placement of new equipment for the synthesis process of new energy materials and metallurgical engineering and analytical equipment such as: X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF), X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer (AAS), Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry (ICP-MS), Lase Ablation, Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), Electron Probe Micro-Analyzer (EPMA) Chromatography (C), Gass Chromatography (GC), Particle Size Analyzer (PSA), Zeta Potential Analyzer and Servopulser Servo Dynamic Systems.
